Tipperary Comhairle na nÓg is the official elected voice of youth within the county and is supported by the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth (DCEDIY) and the Local Authority.

The Comhairlí have been set up to meet the criteria of the United Nations Convention of the Rights of the Child to listen to the voices of young people. The Comhairle model is the recognised structure for participation by children and young people in decision-making in all thirty-one local authorities and allows them to have a voice on the issues, policies and services that affect them in their local areas. Members of each Comhairle are elected at an AGM for a two-year period and half of the membership of the Comhairle is rotated from year to year. The issues for the Comhairle na nÓg agenda for the year are selected at the AGM and form the basis of the activities of the Comhairle and its Working Groups  during that year.
