MooreHaven Centre, Tipperary town

The MooreHaven Centre provides a foundation skills training programme, day service programmes and work experience for adults in the mild to moderate range of intellectual disability.  Its Day Service includes:

  • A 2.5 year foundation skills training programme which offers QQI certification at Levels 1, 2 and 3.  The training programme offers modules in personal development, independent living skills, IT skills as well as career/work preparation and work experience.

 

  • The Day Activation day programme offers supported activities which include arts & crafts, reflexology, cooking, knitting, boccia, gentle exercises, singing and music therapy.
  • The Horizon and Craft day service programmes offer a range of activities, including personal development and independent living classes, arts & crafts including woodwork and horticulture, cooking, knitting and gentle exercises.  QQI Certification and adult literacy classes are also on offer.  People are also supported in finding work experience / supported / open employment opportunities and support people to be actively engaged in their local communities.  All programmes respond to the needs and wishes of the service users as identified through the Person Centred Planning process.
  • There is a Job Coach on site whose role is to prepare service users for work experience / employment and support them to access further education should they wish to do so.
  • An Autism day service which supports the service users to actively participate in their community.
  • A community access day programme , CATS (Cashel Activity and Training Service), which is located in the Tesco Shopping Centre, Cashel, Co. Tipperary.  This service offers a 2.5 year training programme as well as a day service.

MooreHaven also provides a Residential & Respite Support Services in four Community Homes within or in close proximity to Tipperary Town. Each residential house is home to 4-5 residents. All decisions made in regard to the management of each home reflct the opinions of each resident . The residents supported in these homes take part in many community activities e.g. Zumba classes, swimming, visiting the library, shopping etc. The residents are also supported to achieve goals that will enhance their lives as well as support the development of their independence skills, through the Person Centered Planning Process.

Target Group: Adults in the mild to moderate range of intellectual disability. This includes young people with disabilities who are graduating from School Services into Adult Disability services.
