Epilepsy Ireland

Epilepsy Ireland through its Community Resource Officers (CROs) provides a service to people with a diagnosis of epilepsy. The CROs provide information and support in the following ways:

  • Providing information to parents of children with epilepsy around medication, recognition of triggers in relation to seizures, preparation for medical appointments, e.g., with neurologist, and managing stress.
  • Providing information tailored to different age groups. There is also a toolkit, ‘Living Well with Epilepsy’, available.
  • Raising awareness about epilepsy in schools, with community groups, etc.
  • Setting up and maintaining support groups, if required.

Target group: All adults aged 18 years and upwards with epilepsy; young people, aged 16 – 17 years, with epilepsy, where parental permission has been given; families with children with epilepsy.

How to access: Direct contact with regional or national office; referral by medical & healthcare staff.
