Ability programmes

The national Ability Programme promotes positive pathways into education, training and employment for young people with disabilities. The main aim of the programmes is to give young people an opportunity to develop practical skills which enable them to enter the workplace and/or to assume a meaningful and sustainable social role within their own community. There are three Ability Programmes in Co. Tipperary which are run respectively by Knockanrawley Resource Centre, Tipperary town; St. Cronan’s Centre, Roscrea; and Youth Work Ireland Tipperary.

Target Group: Young people and young adults, aged 15 – 29 years, who have a diagnosis of ASD, a mental health condition, a physical disability, a learning disability or a hidden disability (viz. disabilities that are not immediately apparent, e.g., Cystic Fibrosis, Diabetes, Chronic Fatigue syndrome, and psychiatric disabilities) .
